Meet the Tutor: Nathan

"My students know me as Nathan the ‘Maths Man’ - but how well do you really know me?"

Here’s an interview to get to know our Head Tutor, Nathan, a bit better!

What’s your favourite colour?

"Purple"

Favourite TV show?

"Hmm that’s difficult… probably The Simpsons!"

Did you have a favourite subject in school?

"Well you’re probably gonna expect me to say maths… and I did really like maths. But I think my favourite had to be music."

Do you play any instruments then?

"Yep, guitar and clarinet."

What’s your favourite maths topic?

"Algebra!! Or more specifically functions."

Do you have any pets?

"I used to have a pet Tabby Cat!"

How long have you been tutoring for?

"I've been tutoring for over 5 years now."

What did you do before tutoring?

"I have previously worked in the higher education industry, working for various UK Universities. I still do a small bit of work at a University now."

If you could go on holiday anywhere, where would you go?

"That’s difficult, I love Finland but I’ve already been, maybe Japan? Or Space! Am I allowed to say Space??"

How did you find maths at school?

"I was good at maths, but around my GCSEs I found it difficult to reach my potential. After some hard work and practice, I picked myself up and went on to complete A-Level maths and do maths at university."

Favourite food?

"Most people think this is weird. It’s porridge!"
