Choosing subjects for A-Level is not a simple matter. Whether you are planning to get into a university or specific profession, or want to deepen your knowledge of a subject; A-Levels can determine the course of your future for the rest of your life. That’s why you need to know these tips to choose the subjects wisely!
Subject categories
First, before considering any subjects, you need to think about what subject categories you want to choose. It’s good to have a slight range of categories, but you also need to make sure that the subjects benefit each other. Categories include: STEM (Science/Maths), Humanities, Languages, Media, Sports, Practical professions, and more I have probably missed!
Think about university
If you’re considering entering the university, you need to know the requirements of the specific university and course you want to enter. The same course at different universities might require different subjects. Even if you’re not sure what course you want to do, it can be helpful to browse and make a rough plan.
Trust yourself
Some people might say that specific subjects for A-Level are challenging, while others are not. Taking some advice from others can be useful, but everybody is different and you need to work out if the subject is right for you. Do your research and decide what is best for you.
Combinations
Last but not least, you must be careful of the combinations of your subjects. If you want to keep your options open, don’t choose subjects that are very similar. On the other hand if you want to do a specialised degree, pick the subjects that relate to it, not some that don’t have any correlations.
